There are several mythological stories associated with this trekking place.
*How to reach?*
This approx 13 Km trek starts from Barshaini. You can easily reach Bhuntar via Delhi-Manali highway by a Volvo/AC/Roadways bus. After reaching to Bhuntar, it is advisable to get all your basic accessories from stores and dhabbas available. From Bhuntar, you can go for a cab/taxi/local vehicles to reach this small yet beautiful Barshaini village (This is the place where trek starts). This place comes after kullu and Manikaran Sahib.
*Best time for the trek*
This trek is at its most fun stage during the transition of weather. Too hot Or too cold, in fact rainy season is not advisable for this trek. May, September and October can be a good choice. Post monsoon is also not the time to go for this trek as it will be all slippery and not so safe.
*Routes to kheerganga trek*
There are mainly two routes to get to this place where sky meets the mountains.
1. Via Nakthan Village– This is the shortest way to reach this beautiful place with the Parvati River flowing on your left. This trek will take around 3-4 hours for moderate trekking speed. Some people also trek via Tosh village which finally joins to this pathway. Special mention to the fresh apple tress which you will find in the way & its juicy bite gonna make your journey more memorable.
2.Via kalga village– This route is a little longer with some extra kilometers, but only some are aware of this Bheed free route, but it is advisable to go via this route with a guide because this goes through a super dense forest which cannot be considered safe. There are several food joints along the route from where you can have that pahado wali maggie & tea.
*Some ‘Khasiyat’ of Kheerganga Trek*
This place is believed to be the site where Shivji meditated for 3000 years. There is a little warm water pool with healing properties. This pool which turns into milky water and something related to Ganges river. There is also a lord Shiva temple near the hot spring.Nature’s love is what you can feel all around you. Creamy and hot pasta/maggi with the snow everywhere doubles the fun.

For travel from Bhuntar to Kheerganga will cost you around ₹1500.For accommodation, you can book tents, cottages or shared rooms will cost you around 150-500 per day.
